Det är mig en stor ära att idag kunna presentera en intervju med Trish Lucarino, som är hjärnan bakom, och skaparen av märket Principessa Beauty, som alldeles nyligen lanserades i Sverige via härliga shoppen Eleven.se.
You are the founder of Principessa Beauty, which has very recently been launched here in Sweden. Please, tell us how Principessa Beauty got started. Where did the idea come from?
I have always been an insatiable beauty product junkie in search of the best products. I was sometimes attracted to pretty packaging but then I didn’t like the scent or the performance and wondered if it was too much to ask for great packaging, performance and perfume. We call it the 3 P’s at Principessa.
When were the first products released?
September 2003
What was your reaction when Principessa started appearing in glossy mags like Glamour, Allure and Marie Claire?
What a dream come true! Can you imagine? I think I was a magazine junkie as well as Beauty Products and really it’s so important to get the editorial coverage so grateful comes to mind as well.
Do you have any words of wisdom to share with beauty-entrepreneurs in the making out there?
It’s such a competitive industry and I look back and think I must have been insane to be honest, but if it’s your passion you can make it work and sometimes you just have to close your eyes, plug your nose and jump in!
What did you do before the days of Principessa Beauty?
I was in the retail end of Cosmetics and a Beauty Advisor but I think the thing that really helped me take the leap was helping my hubby with his business which was a paint and body shop for big rigs and heavy machinery. We always joke that we went from one type of body shop to a different type of body shop.
Principessa Beauty is for the Urban Princess, it says on your website. What’s the difference between an Urban Princess and a fairytale princess?
Fairytale princesses are fantasy but the urban princess knows how to pamper herself. We have a full list of what makes an urban princess at www.principessabeauty.com
Principessa Beauty has not been tested on animals, which I think is great! What made you decide not to test your products on animals?
Ugh! Does anyone do that anymore?
Principessa’s products have been in some of those ever so famous goodie-bags (like for instance at the Emmy’s). Now numerous celebs have named Principessa’s products to be amongst their favourites. So let’s do the gossipy thing, is there anyone that you are extra proud to say is a Principessa user?
Well, there are lots. My most recent favourite was at the Golden Globes a couple of weeks ago. Kathy Hilton walked up to us and said “Oh, I was just using your product this morning and I always have Bacio Me Lip Balm in my purse” We were tickled pink because we know Kathy could have just about anything she wants in her Birken Bag 🙂
Which of the products is your personal favourite?
I agree with Kathy Hilton that the Bacio Me Lip Balm is amazing and the best on the market but this is like asking a Mom which child is her favourite…
What’s in store for Principessa in the near future? Any new exciting products to look forward to?
Absolutely! Stay tuned 🙂
You call yourself an insatiable beauty product junkie. What products, outside of the Principessa line, are favourites of yours?
Hmm, I would really have to think about this. I don’t have staples as I love trying everything and change all the time. Part of the reason I wanted to create Principessa was because of my search for the perfect products which I just couldn’t find.
Now, lets turn our attention to your handbag! What product would you never leave home without?
Do you carry a lot of products around with you? Bacio Me and Cattiva Diva are always close at hand but I don’t carry a lot of stuff around.
Finally, do you visit and read blogs? And if you do, do you have any favourites?
I LOVE blogs. Who doesn’t? Unfortunately I just don’t have time to have faves though…
Slänger i väg en fråga lite OT här. Jag är i behov av en kostym/dräkt. Kan någon tipsa om en affär eller ett märke som har längre ärmar/ben på sina kavajer/byxor? Är de dessutom lite slimma vore det toppen!
